Android N ?! - Yes, just announced by Google...

Amazing! The Android N Preview just got reality although it's still before Google I/O 16. What?!?

Google seemed to change its plan. They just release the first Preview of Android N.

This are some of the new features:

  • Multi-Window Support
  • Better Notifications
  • Background Optimizations
  • Data Saver
  • Direct Boot
  • ICU4J Android Framework APIs
  • Multi-language support
  • and more…

The preview is available to download for following devices:

Nexus 5X
Nexus 6
Nexus 6P
Nexus 9
Nexus 9G
Nexus Player
Pixel C

Google has the following release plan:

  • Preview 1 (initial release, alpha)
  • Preview 2 (incremental update, beta)
  • Preview 3 (incremental update, beta)
  • Preview 4 (final APIs and official SDK, Play publishing)
  • Preview 5 (near-final system images for final testing)
  • Final release to AOSP and ecosystem

All updates will be avilable as OTA when you register to the beta program ( link is broken at the moment, but it's the official one – maybe it works later).

I promise you'll see more about the N Preview later here on appydroid too.

Are you one of the lucky people with the right device to test it? And will you test it? Comment…
