iA Writer: The best writing app for Android

Did you ever wrote a really long text for some blog posts or something like that on your mobile? I guess not, because the display is very small and the preview and editing options of the most apps are very limited.

But there's a solution for that problem: iA Writer.

iA Writer is the best writing app for Android I have ever used (and I tried a lot). It fully supports Markdown, exports your texts to many file formats, syncs with the cloud and the best: it's free! (At least currently, on their page they posted, that they have plans to sell In-App-Purchases – Link).

Markdown editing and preview

On iA Writer you write texts in Markdown. Markdown is a syntax method, to easily structure texts. If you don't know what it is, you'll see a tutorial, when you open the app for the first time.

And next to the complete Markdown integration, it has also a very cool preview feature. When you're writing a text, you can simply swipe right, to preview, what you've written and you can also see it in different fonts.

Cloud sync

iA Writer can save the texts directly to following online cloud storage services:

  • Google Drive
  • Dropbox

This is very useful, if you use iA Writer on multiple devices, or if you also use your PC or the web page for writing. Texts are synchronized very fast and without any problems.

Export features

  • Plain text
  • HTML (pretty useful, if you use apps like WordPress, where you can directly paste the HTML)
  • PDF
  • Microsoft Word
  • Print (yes, you can even print the texts directly from the app)

Medium integration

If you have a Medium account (Medium is a very cool blogging network, where posts can easily go viral), you can directly post your posts from the app there.

You can download iA Writer for free on Google Play.

By the way: I wrote this text at least for some parts on my mobile.
